A data scientist is someone who collects, analyzes and interprets big data sets. Through their expertise in analytics, statistics and programming, data scientists use this information to develop data-driven solutions for difficult business challenges.


Data scientists carry out the process of analyzing data using various methods and algorithms and machine learning to combine several pairs of data to reveal a pattern. For example, consumer habits and preferences. This sought pattern can later be used as a reference to predict the business movement of a product. Data scientists need to come from those with a bachelor's degree in statistics, mathematics, computer science, or economics.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Work with stakeholders in the company to identify opportunities to leverage company data to drive business solutions.

  • Mind and analyze data from enterprise databases to drive optimization and improvement of product development, marketing techniques, and business strategies.

  • Assess the effectiveness and accuracy of new data sources and data collection techniques.

  • Develop custom data models and algorithms to apply to data sets.

  • Use predictive modeling to improve and optimize customer experience, revenue generation, ad targeting, and other business results.

  • Develop the company's A/B testing framework and testing model.

  • Coordinate with different functional teams to implement models and monitor results.

  • Develop processes and tools to monitor and analyze model performance and data accuracy.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must have experience building machine learning models through libraries like Keras, Tensorflow or Pytorch.

  • Experience in applying data mining and information retrieval techniques to extract significant insights from arbitrary data sets.

  • Experience doing data analysis using programming languages; e.g., R, Python, Javascript.

  • Ability to effectively communicate findings about data by technical or non-technical means

  • Ability to coordinate with team members in engineering, product development, content development and business development

  • Critical thinking: ability to track complex data and engineering problems, evaluate different algorithmic approaches, and analyze data to solve problems

  • Degrees in computer science, physics, mathematics, bioinformatics, etc. is a plus.

  • Experienced in SQL queries and preferably have experience with data warehousing tools such as Google Bigquery, AWS Redshift or Snowflake.
