They typically start out as an engineer in one of many fields, and as they gain expertise in the industry use their skills to conceptualize the big picture and advance to the position of DevOps engineer. A bachelor's degree is required for the position, with many holding advanced degrees in computer science, software engineering or a related engineering field. Individuals with a firm holistic understanding of both operational aspects and project scope are likely to excel in this position.

  • Provide detailed specifications for the proposed solution including materials, labor and time required.

  • Provide clear objectives for all project areas and develop measures to monitor their timely implementation.

  • Work closely with professional engineers within the company to maintain the necessary hardware and software so that projects can be completed efficiently.

  • Become a mentor and train other engineers and strive to continuously improve development.

  • Work with the project management team to successfully monitor the progress and implementation of initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience in developing engineering applications for large companies.

  • Able to demonstrate project development and leadership skills.

  • Master's degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering is preferred.

  • Up-to-date understanding of best practices regarding system security measures.

  • Further education and application of engineering and business analysis strategies.

  • Experience working with teams from several departments to facilitate the orderly implementation of proposed project plans.

  • Professional experience and a high level of understanding of working with various operating systems and their implications.

  • Professional work experience in team building and project organization.
