Basically, the goal of a maintenance technician is to keep facilities and common areas in the best possible condition. Maintenance technicians can work in a variety of settings including commercial and residential buildings.


Generally, Maintenance Technicians have a high school diploma or with HVAC or building maintenance technology certification. Successful maintenance technicians are detail oriented with strong manual dexterity and problem solving skills.

Responsibilities and Duties

Minimum Qualifications

  • Basic understanding of electricity, hydraulics and other systems

  • Demonstrated experience as a maintenance technician

  • Strong understanding of common treatment processes and methods

  • Experience in operating a wide range of equipment, including snow blowers, lawn mowers and small hand tools

  • Working knowledge of tools, common equipment and tools

  • Good written and verbal communication skills

  • EPA technician certification required

  • Excellent manual dexterity and problem solving skills.
