Job Description

Position Overview:
We are seeking a qualified and motivated researcher to lead a project-based research initiative funded by grants. The research will focus on creating innovative, scalable solutions that intersect health, environment, education, and economic empowerment for marginalized communities. The role is project-based and will span the duration of the research grant, including the potential to extend into pre-trial program development and post-research implementation phases.

Key Responsibilities:

Research Design and Execution:

  • Lead and conduct intersectional research on health, environmental sustainability, education, and economic empowerment.
  • Develop solutions tailored to underprivileged individuals, people with disabilities, vulnerable groups, women, post-disaster communities, and indigenous peoples.

Program Development:

  • Design pre-trial programs based on research findings and collaborate with relevant stakeholders.
  • Monitor and support the implementation of post-research programs, ensuring that they effectively address community needs and have measurable impact.

Collaboration and Partnership:

  • Engage with interdisciplinary teams, NGOs, government agencies, and community leaders to ensure research relevance and impact.
  • Facilitate discussions to ensure alignment with Kitabisa Foundation’s goals and the needs of the communities served.

Publication and Reporting:

  • Publish research findings in academic journals and present at relevant conferences.
  • Provide comprehensive reporting on research progress, findings, and program outcomes to funders and stakeholders.

Grant Management:

  • Manage research funds provided by grants, ensuring efficient use throughout pre-trial and post-research phases.
  • Assist in writing additional grant proposals to secure future project funding.

Minimum Qualifications

  • PhD in Social Sciences, Health, Environmental Studies, Education, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting research on social innovation, particularly in relation to marginalized communities.
  • Strong understanding of intersectional research and its application in addressing economic, health, environmental, and educational challenges.
  • Experience designing and managing research-based programs.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work across sectors and disciplines.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in working with vulnerable communities, NGOs, government agencies, or disaster recovery initiatives.
  • Familiarity with community-based participatory research (CBPR) approaches.
  • Proven track record of publishing research in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Experience in grant writing and budget management for research projects.

Contract Type:
This is a project-based, research grant-funded position, with the possibility of extension depending on future funding.

Compensation:
Competitive stipend based on the project scope and grant provisions.
