The GIS Specialist III is responsible for the development, management, and application of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to support the planning, monitoring, and evaluation of agency programs and projects. The position involves advanced technical work in spatial data analysis, database management, mapping, and providing geospatial solutions to aid evidence-based decision-making.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop, maintain, and manage spatial databases, GIS applications, and related data systems
- Conduct advanced spatial analysis and modeling to support planning, disaster risk reduction, environmental management, and development programs.
- Prepare predictive analytics, maps, dashboards, and other visualizations to present geographic and statistical data in user-friendly formats.
- Ensure accuracy, integrity, and security of geospatial data and systems.
- Coordinate with national government agencies, LGUs, academe, and other stakeholders on geospatial data sharing and harmonization.
- Provide technical supprot and training to internal staff and partner institutions on GIS-related tools and methodologies.
- Perform related tasks as may be assigned by the immediate supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree relevant to the job (preferably Geodetic Engineering, Geography, Information Technology, Environmental Science, Forestry, and other related courses)
- Eight (8) hours of relevant training preferably on GIS, Remote Sensing, Database Management, Information Managemetn and Analysis
- At least two (2) years of relevant experience on database management application and administration, utilization of various computer-aided mapping applications, and other relevant experiences in the implementation of DRRM Programs, Projects, and Activities (PPAs)
- Preferably weith Career Service Professional Second Level Eligibility
