Principal or Senior Software Engineer  

As a Principal or Senior Engineer at EarthTrack, you will partner closely with the CTO and Technical Lead to maximize the productivity and effectiveness of the engineering team. This role is pivotal in ensuring that engineering standards are consistently applied and continuously evolved to meet the company’s growing business and technical demands.

You will provide hands-on technical leadership in architecture and design, set the bar for best practices in code quality, testing, CI/CD, and documentation, and mentor engineers to elevate team capability. By driving technical excellence and fostering a culture of high standards, you will play a key role in enabling EarthTrack to deliver secure, scalable, and reliable solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Establish, enforce, and improve engineering standards (code quality, testing, reviews, CI/CD, documentation) to ensure long-term technical excellence.

• Collaborate with the CTO and Technical Lead to align engineering practices with strategic objectives and accelerate delivery.

• Provide full-stack technical leadership across ReactJS, React Native, Node.js/TypeScript, PostgreSQL/MySQL, MongoDB, and Redis.

• Mentor, coach, and develop engineers to grow technical expertise and strengthen team culture.

• Lead architectural and design reviews, ensuring systems are built for scalability, performance, and maintainability.

• Drive engineering discipline by removing bottlenecks, optimizing processes, and introducing tools that improve efficiency.

• Work cross-functionally with stakeholders to balance innovation, speed, and long-term sustainability.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, including leading end-to-end development efforts for SaaS and enterprise platforms.

• Proven expertise in system architecture and scalable application design, with a track record of delivering robust, high-performance solutions for large-scale projects.

• Advanced proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, Node.js, React.js, and React Native, with deep experience leveraging AWS services to build and operate scalable, secure, and resilient systems.

• Extensive database expertise across relational and NoSQL systems, including PostgreSQL, MySQL, MS SQL, MongoDB, and CouchDB, with strong skills in data modeling, optimization, and performance tuning.

• Demonstrated success in architecting APIs and microservices, with strong knowledge of real-time communication protocols (REST, WebSockets, event-driven systems).

• Proven leadership in defining, enforcing, and evolving engineering standards, ensuring technical excellence and consistency across multiple teams.

• Strong track record of mentoring engineers and shaping technical direction at scale, fostering growth and driving high-performing teams.

• Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to align technical decisions with business priorities.

• Expert problem-solving and decision-making abilities, balancing technical trade-offs with long-term business impact.
